In this really idiotic story, which I found on instagram, far-right racists Japan First Party staged a protest against a “plan” to designate the city for African migrants. The caveat, there is no plan, and the whole story was because MOFA used the wrong English term in one of their materials

Korean parliament voted to repeal the martial law, all 190 lawmakers in session voted in favor.

As seen on that other site, apparently the speaker of Korean parliament has taken his seat to call an extraordinary session

UPDATE: This will perhaps be the last update for tonight. According to my analysis, the night might have been somewhat worse for moderate members of the JP ruling coalition than for conservatives. Still, both groups have already lost more than half of their marginal incumbents.

UPDATE: At 20 past midnight, the ruling parties of Japan has lost more than half of marginal incumbents, with many seats left to call. Very exciting night this has been !

UPDATE: If it continues like this, it seems the LDP and Komeito will lose around two-thirds of their marginal incumbents. While not a total wipeout, definitely not a strong result for Japan's ruling parties.

UPDATE: As it looks right now, LDP moderates are taking quite hard losses, while we see many conservatives holding their seats; it may not be as easy as to say that Abe-affiliated incumbents are getting voted out. Havent looked at the distribution by faction yet though.

Results now starting to come in, still moderates seem to do somewhat better than conservative LDP incumbents. Still about two-thirds of districts remaining.

Updating my table, out of the results so far, out of 22 marginal districts with LDP incumbents, the LDP lost 18. Moderates seemingly doing somewhat better than the conservatives, but hard to say the final result yet.

In an hour the polls will change and the first results will start trickling in. I have created this table of all vulnerable LDP incumbents (as well as for the uragane-giin). I will fill in the table as the results come in, based on the results reported by the NHK.

I’ve gathered data on vulnerable LDP incumbents in the upcoming election, categorizing them as conservative or moderate based on their views on spousal surnames, immigration, and Yasukuni Shrine. After the election I'll update to analyze which group was more punished at the polls
