Civil Engineer in a Nuclear World.
And google still routes you over a bridge that’s been closed for over a year. The only route because of that closure is Henley Street to the left.

Then crossing the 7 lanes again, waiting awkwardly while not trying to be hit, and crossing another 5 lanes to turn up this hill into a “bike lane”.

Your reward at the top of the hill is a BIKE LANE!

Then climbing this hill in that same 60km/h traffic.

It would have involved crossing these 7 lanes of 35mph (60km/h) speed limit traffic and turning left in the far lane.

You know, maybe I do miss sitting in traffic heading to work.

Nahhhhhhh.

The laptops got a little weird though.

You don’t have a circular screen?

Seems like an upgrade is in order.

Also, the argument of needing X number of people to justify a bike lane is also completely out the window when there are these just heading… to an industrial park.

If the connectivity justifies roads, there’s no reason it can’t also have bike lanes that are a fraction of the cost to design/build.

At TVA, they have a solid mix of nuclear, gas, hydro, pumped storage, battery storage, a bit of coal left, and a sliver of wind.

We lost a 500kV line on a hot summer day due to a farmer cutting down a tree, which tripped the line and ended up tripping our reactor.

It’s all about a balanced mix of generation.

We haven’t yet fucked ourselves because we’ve been extending operations of the existing nuclear fleet to 60 and even 80 years.

Wind and solar are fantastic - but there has to be a balance for a stable grid.

Also, I hear wind power will never catch on…

Biking to school would have involved crossing a 5-lane road, then riding uphill in the rightmost lane for 2 blocks until the bike lane appeared, with traffic driving 40-50mph in a 35 zone.

When the bike lane appeared, it was this. Protection with paint and sticks.
