Catholic, Husband, Father of two. Trying to make a mid-career lateral move into the tech sector. Love the Nats (but not as much as my wife) and Alabama football.
It was someone from the back row (they made a big show of it). Usually where they keep the folks from the whacko publications. I *think* the questioner's name is Bridgett but I didn't get the publication's name.

No, of course not. I think the most recent criticism comes from a video where the speaker describes rights that undocumented folks have. But being innocent of the charge is completely irrelevant in this atmosphere. Wanton cruelty toward any who support immigrants is the rule.

What happened to the good old days where they mostly paid struggling, promising artists to paint masterpieces which would later wind up in museums...

You spent all that time deriving sin? Looking at pi that was is so negative. I've always thought half a pi was nothing! Now two of them might be one...

I have enough indignation for creepy Dems too!

I'm on a bigots list but it's rather broad so I'm confused about who I'm supposed to be bigoted against. I feel like I need to start taking random aim so I don't disappoint the person who listed me! Now let me tell you about my problem with the Flemish!

Single volume?

Ugh, and it's a beautiful book too... Envious. So desperately hopeful that the new translation of the breviary will be a beautiful translation printed in a beautiful format.

What offices does this have? Just Lauds and Vespers?

Something about our current politics that brings to mind the end of the world... ;-) Fascinating. I'll have to check out your first book.

I get that you're working a whole book so asking you to simplify too much is unfair but can you say a little more about the political economy of Advent?

I think there should be a Catholic equivalent to Godwin's Law but for silk and lace. Those sorts of arguments are never in good faith.

Which is why several of the folks that I respect but don't necessarily agree with all the time that used to work for National Review no longer do.
November 16, 2024 at 10:45 AM
I *think* I agree with you, but I'll say it's a much closer call than say 15 or 20 years ago. I think the publication has changed dramatically and while it obviously has a storied reputation in the conservative world, that reputation is highly tarnished.

I leave the question of blocking NR to others but despising Matt Gaetz is bipartisan. The founder of the Federalist has said much worse of him than this and I... don't have a lot of respect for The Federalist (I cleaned up some crass metaphors I wanted to use there...).
