The phrase was known at Oberlin in the late 1970s, but nobody used it except in jokes about the few idiot conservatives who were always trying to stir up controversy by positing falsehoods. In my experience, there was no ‘language policing’ going on.

That day may never come because the federal government by then will have ceded control over everything to religious institutions that will eradicate dissent in the name of Jesus. If Alito has his way, we’ll all be Opus Dei Catholics.

The conservatives on the Court have now cemented their role as active collaborators, not mere accommodationists. Like Congress, they have abdicated their duty to make the judiciary a co-equal branch of government which checks the other two branches. History will not be kind to these people.
