"Our August Tangle" a #reduction #linoprint of our garden. I worked spontaneously outside in the garden using 2 layers of water based ink, 2 of oil based. Trying to be loose and enjoy mucking about. It was a lot of fun and very in keeping with our wee rented garden. #printmaker #botanicalart

Life's been stupid hectic. I've been part of the York Printmakers Festival of Print in a pop-up on High Petergate. I'll be there again, end of August.

New tiny #reductionprint in progress - a bullfinch nest. Two layers in is usually a hopeful point in the process. #linoprint #printsky #artsky #wip doing York Open Studios again this weekend if you'd like to see this print in progress.
2nd layer of a lino reduction print - a very pale transparent blue covered with the darker eggshell blues of the egg shadows. The photo shows the block in its registration system of a closely cut to fit grey board and Ternes Burton pins next to the printed second layer. A print of the second layer of a reduction of eggs in a nest in light blues. 4 eggs nestle and some of the white wool used to weave the best is visible.

"Nuthatch revealing abundance" - working title of this 3 block print - pretty much happy with the layers and moving on to cutting paper. It's my least favourite printmaking job, I'm treating my ears to Lianne Hall's back catalogue and the new Ani DiFranco to get me through.

This week's #printpromptmonday on a #water theme: offering from the past year's archive - super hard to photograph "Depths". A joyful carve, but I printed it onto handmade paper that buckled as it dried. I was happy with the textures though, I tried to not "overprint" and mucked about underprinting.
