Went to more sessions on coastal adaptation today then had a chat to protesters outside the @adaptationfutures.bsky.social conference. Totally agree: we are in a climate emergency and mitigation (reducing emissions) should still be top priority, unfortunately we now also need to adapt to 🥵 🌊 ⛈️

High tide on #Wellingtons Lyall Bay beach during southerly storm. No room for the pups on the dog walking beach! The seagulls have claimed any scraps of beach remaining 🌊 🥶

And she had microalgae transfer tattoos!! Jacqui draws as well as sciences - and the doco features animations inspired by her microalgae drawings.

Jacqui - who features in the doco – was standing with her own poster on her microalgae research.

Kā Roimata o Hine Hukatere, or Franz Josef Glacier, on the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand (photo 2021) has been retreating since 2008. The glacier is Hine’s tears, frozen by the gods after her lover was killed in an avalanche in the mountains. A melting glacier made from tears. 3/n

To mark World Day for #Glaciers, here are some pictures of glaciers I’ve written about. This is Pearse Valley in Antarctica, about a 40-min helo ride from Scott Base. Right of Lake Joyce is a lobe of the Taylor Glacier, and behind them, clawing over the brown ridge is the Catspaw Glacier. 1/n

Im sorting through some belongings of my late father and am wondering what this is? Likely to be a gift after a visit to a Chinese university … if anyone has any ideas I’d love to know! Could there be tea inside all this?

Anyway, love the manu in my garden but they’re eating the raspberries (blackbirds?) and that’s not ok. Trying to rig something to stop it 🤔

This book by @princesstehangi.bsky.social is so, so good - I’m gutted to have finished it. Like @thwupbooks.bsky.social said on the back cover, it’s “tempestuous and haunting” - I loved it so much. Might have to start again from the beginning …
