Day 12 - Yves Tumour: 'Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds)'

An incredible rock auteur who channels queer rage into art-rock and nu-metal. This album is a gorgeous, intense, and at times serene journey.

Day 11 - Jazmine Sullivan: 'Heaux Tales, Mo's Tales'

A top-notch traditional R&B album that interweaves songs about the trials and tribulations of relationships and dialogue between Jazmine and her friends/collaborators. It's a bad bitch night in an album.

Day 10 - Jensen McRae: 'Are You Happy Now?'

This is a really fantastic set of bedroom acoustic indie songs with some incredible songwriting. McRae's gorgeous vocals weave beautiful stories and heartbreaking tragedy.

Day 9 - Kendrick Lamar: 'To Pimp a Butterfly'

What hasn't been said about this one. It's more and more rewarding with every listen using afro-futurism and jazz-funk with features from so many different sides of the black music spectrum. A modern rap magnum opus.

Day 8 - Death Grips: 'No Love, Deep Web'

I have to admit part of the reason this is my fave DG album has to be that it's the biggest fuck you to the music industry maybe ever. Anyways MC Ride's unabashed aggressive vocals are always insane. Hardcore EDM, experimental, alt-rap.

Day 7 (a day late) - Tyler, the Creator: 'IGOR'

Who hasn't heard of Tyler at this point. This one's my personal fave. Great writing, production, performance. 10/10 album using the 'Igor' idea to explore the ups and many downs of relationships.

Day 6 - Sudan Archives: 'Natural Brown Prom Queen'

A self taught violinist turned r&b/hip-hop artist, Sudan Archives just oozes swagger and sex over live violin and incredible production taking you on a sonic journey. One of the coolest artists out there right now.

Day 5 - Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA: 'Scaring the Hoes'

An incredible collab album between two of rap's most interesting artists currently with incredible samples and production. Filthy, raw, and in your face. Also, "First off, FUCK ELON MUSK!"

Day 4 - Kilo Kish: 'American Gurl'

This was my top album of 2022 and for good reason. Mixing spoken word, pop, electronic and dance Kilo brings us an Industrial Pop album about the pop industry itself. Not to mention it's bangers on bangers on bangers

In honor of the Queen winning her AOTY finally

Day 3 - Beyoncé: Renaissance

Need I say anything about this masterpiece. It's my fave Beyoncé album personally because dammit I love disco. I can't help but get up and dance anytime it comes on. Another 10/10.

Magdalena Bay, SPRINTS, Allie X, Brittany Howard, Ravyn Lenae, Hana Vu were some of my tops from the year. And SPRINTS is definitely being slept on in the punk community

Day 2 - Pointer Sisters: 'Break Out'

Infused with funk, soul, rock, disco, r&b, gospel, you name it , this album has it all wrapped up in a perfect 80's pop package. The sisters' vocals are just outstanding and the performances are electric.

Well she's been teasing this two part albums for well over 3 years now. Also she didn't DIRECTLY call out Elon for doing the sieg heil. Sooooo it's not great right now. But I don't feel bad for her cause he won't let her see their kids :(

Uggghhhh it's such a good listen. An absolute travesty I don't have it on vinyl still. It feels like the perfect album for these times.

Nothing better than loading up a bowl and spinning a record for a deep listen.
