I had to get a Masters degree in a vocationally "useful" field to get my foot into the middle class job door, but my English Lit BA & the writing & critical thinking skills it taught me have been so much more valuable to my career since then than anything I did in grad school.

Sorry, I didn't want to trivialize horrible school experiences. I meant to convey that anti-anti fascists act like any use of "fascism" is facetious, like we're all kids complaining about being grounded or getting detention for a few days.

iirc, the original Jacobin Club's dues were fairly pricy & well out of reach for the Parisian working class, as were many of the other influential clubs (although I haven't done a dissertation's-worth amount of research on this - apparently unlike the average poster here - so I'm obviously wrong).

My dad was terrified he'd lose his license at his next ophthalmologist appointment. When the Dr told him he'd have to switch to a limited license, he realized he'd been *hoping* he'd lose his license. He quit. We were lucky.
