The idea that a member of the government could say something like this and still be in his job is mind-blowing. In the UK he’d be sacked within minutes. People here want to sack our PM for not knowing someone lied about friendship with Epstein: meanwhile, Trump!🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

To be honest Betsy, the most frequent word used to describe this situation is ‘gestapo’, which isn’t terribly flattering. Most people outside the US simply cannot understand what is happening: the US seems to have lost its mind. Thank goodness for the protesters

Persevere with Hamnet: it is worth the effort, I promise. I felt the same at first - wasn’t keen- but then… Be warned though: it is quite graphic and harrowing on the subject of grief. I pretty much sobbed my way through the later stages: VERY close to home. 💔

I bought the first three after all the rave reviews: read the first book. Not for me I’m afraid. If you want the next two in the series will happily post to you. I’m not going to read them
