This piece "Revelation" by Mickalene Thomas
can be seen at the Whitney through Feb '25, part of the Edges of Ailey exhibition. Her mixing of media came, in part, out of necessity, like her signature rhinestones, which are put on one by one and can number into the thousands on just one piece.

These are photographs by Sarah Moon. Ethereal and elegant, her photographs are almost abstract in their painterly qualities. Surface, seeing, believing, dreaming; it's difficult to summarize their content without pointing to the evident romantic and melancholic mood that emanates from her work.
