These 3 paintings were inspired by the attacks on 9/11/2001. 'Immediate Impact', left, was painted on 9/11... I depicted the events of 9/11 in symbolic terms rather than a painterly apocalypse like Ludwig Meidner. An artist's statement plus larger images is here: www.flickr.com/photos/richa...

Two years ago I trapped a mouse and gave it a penthouse. Scarface was his name and he loved the yellow wheel best. I had to release him because I brought in a stray cat (Cleo). Fortunately it was in the summer so Scarface could run free in warm weather. I gave away the penthouse via Craigslist.

In 2008 I painted a mural for a dance party and the promoter gave me 4 hours to paint it. The mural was 8' tall x 25' long and I incorporated the cracks in the wall into the composition. Powered by black licorice and an energy drink I flung black house with abandon. www.flickr.com/photos/richa...

'20th Century Romanticism' was part of a series of landscapes I created in Atlanta. The real subject matter was an earth recycling center in which the images were derived. This series is an environmental statement & the recycling center was replaced by track housing. www.flickr.com/photos/richa...

Here is a one minute (partial) interview by Rob Milford of KDKA. I lived in a storefront window as part of the Pittsburgh's 2006 Three Rivers Arts Festival and this is one of two KDKA radio interviews. Below is a link to the complete interview: www.flickr.com/photos/richa...

During COVID I produced a number of paintings all of which are oil on canvas and painted with a palette knife. During COVID I also explored new music and discovered music from the Byzantine Empire. I listened to this music while painting 'Message 1'. www.flickr.com/photos/richa...

My new website is on Flickr: www.flickr.com/photos/richa... Flickr has many advantages over traditional websites, including: Less expensive & easier editing - when you edit on Flickr the edit is fine for both your cell phone and desktop. My art making dates back to 1985. Have a great day!
