A beautiful bottle emerged from the kiln today. Short, sweet, and juicy.

The afternoon's throwing and pulling. I need to replenish some mugs I sold at the most recent spring show. Mugs are very light, 3/4 lbs each. I'm letting everything form up for flipping, trimming and attaching handles.

I'm really loving this yellow iron glaze, it breaks glossy and it has a very pleasant surface.

I've been working on flower frogs, what makes them work well, what are flower arrangers looking for. I've landed on a few designs. Here is one.

I've been making bottles lately, lots of bottles. I usually make them in batches of 15 to 20 just splitting up some of my clay into 1 to 3 lb chunks and then just go forward. I've started to land on a particular bottle form not in size, but in the describable shape it takes. #pottery #bottle

Sofa fired bottle. The front side shows the soda accumulation while the back has lots of flowing patterns where the flame and soda wrapped around it.
The top has a copper green glaze that partially blushed red from reduction.

I'm loving some of the results. Many more to follow.

Another one from a few days ago. Still leather hard ( probably my favorite state of clay). 12+" stoneware bottle.

Finally got all 7 large pots from the beginning of this week trimmed. I got sidelined today when I found two water leaks under my home. We have an artesian well, the tank from which only holds 1000 gallons. Bye bye 900 gallons of water. Gotta be careful for a while now.

Trimmed and paddled stamped tall jar, 5 more to go. It's morning, music is good, and the kiln is on. #pottery #bottle #jar

These pretty much look like my last post but... 3 new ones the form is starting to lock into what I'm after, 8,8,6 lbs 12+,12+ and 10+ inches resp. This form requires a touch more drying than I like before flipping, there is too much weight for that inverted turn to take.
