The Axis had many problems in their logistics chain to North Africa. Port capacity wasn't really one of them.

Background From the DAK War Diary appendices on supply, I can provide the following numbers on supply requirements for the Panzergruppe and Luftwaffe in Africa, which make quite interesting reading…

The early postwar strategic context for Italy has a key element of moving closer to the US. Not just against the Cold War eastern bloc but also partly as opposed to say Britain. Worth remembering eg the British oppose Italy being a founder member of NATO, but they’re overruled by the US.

A key postwar claim of Fioravanzo (and others like Di Sambuy) is that the naval strategy was sufficiently successful to fight the Allies to a stalemate until Torch (or maybe even Husky), ie until US intervention in the theatre. Obviously this is partly about preserving reputations but also…

‘Super hero on the beat’ is a classic. Good lyrics

The broader Spidey playlist is on a lot at our place/in the car at the moment and I genuinely don’t mind it. Some catchy songs. Take the small wins wherever you can find them I guess

Lots of it is very good but I’m not sure I could bring myself to eat Casu martzu.

I was more just curious why the lines appear to converge there
