2026 Geohipster Calendar

So welcome to my crossover post. Which I hardly talk about Geohipster. Geohipster is one of those "side things" that's been happening for over 10 years now. Back in the dearly days of twitter......or I should call it the "Golden Age of social media", Atanas Entchev had […]

Welcome to the biggest GIS Marketing day ever - #gisday - where we try for the 40th year in a row to tell people why what we do is important and have those same people go "just drawing on a computer". Then everyone drinks afterwards.

"Cloudflare is experiencing an outage". Call me weird but maybe this cloud thing is a bit overrated.
November 18, 2025 at 4:03 PM
....and I'm one map away from done and cloudflare goes down. Which only makes me want to ask why a calendar printer needs cloudflare.

The city has rebranded it's logo to make everything look consistent. My new City tax bill looks exactly like my City sewer bill.

Today was going to be "work" and then it turned into cleaning my desk off which is also "work".

All I am left with now is setting up the backpage and then trying to figure out what the cost is for the Calendar. I think I'm finally ahead of the game for once this year.

As I piece together the Geohipster 2026 Calendar - this has been the only time I've had to stop and listen to Dance Music from 1991 from a band I had no clue existed just to make sure this happened. It did. #geohipster

Plus he was an active QGIS user. Met him over on the birdsite and was wondering the other day (couldn't remember his name) how he was doing.

Client wanted to run Linux. Client doesn't understand linux. We're now having a moment where Things have went off the rails and I'm not the IT Guy. So I'm just enjoying the panic.

Every time I make it one more month it's weird. This was month 10 since surgery. I've been wrestling with a 394,000 dollar bill. I filed for financial assistance and I found out yesterday the entire debt was written off. Which technically leaves me with maybe like 2k or 3k left to pay but […]

I came back somewhat refreshed from Foss4gna and a bit frustrated. Overall - it was pretty decent. I don't get that excited about Reston. It was "meh". Flying isn't currently fun - not that it was much for me but it was less so this time. #foss4gna

And that's a wrap.... #foss4gna #foss4g #osgeo #qgis

It's cool being in the same room with a QGIS developer. Martin Dobias....whose name I have mispronounced in my brain for several years #foss4gna #qgis #osgeo

Yesterday I went and spoke to the Oak Ridge GIS Users group. Did some OSM and QGIS stuff. I think that's going to be the start of my end of my "I'll come talk to your GIS Group" life. The group was great. Post January put me in a different headspace where driving 2.5 hours to talk is no longer […]

So my dell workstation is at the end of the warranty period. I can continue the warranty for one year......and it costs more than if I bought the same worskation off ebay currently.

The TN 911 Project – The Garage.

I've been trying to write more as I get into this "New Life" thing since January. I'm not a developer. There was a time I did give it a go and it wasn't my thing. I can write small programs that scratch an itch but they aren't for mass consumption. I have found […]

It appears Geohipster has a good old fashioned Map Contest for the calendar.
October 24, 2025 at 6:53 PM
@geospacedman - My hat is off to you for that map.

I am now done - state tested their new service using qgis. If you need me - I'll be off being annoying about something else. #qgis #tennessee

These days, I'm not the only person talking qgis and open source at meetings. Makes me happy. If i disappear, there's other people to make noise. #tngic #tennessee #qgis #foss4g
