I write poetry.
I look at stuff - trees, mosses, clouds, foxes.
I count stuff - mostly waterfowl, here on the Great Mississippi Flyway. Favorite duck this year: Gadwall.

“”Gaza’s waterfront property could be very valuable,” Mr. Kushner said last year during an event sponsored by Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, suggesting that Israel “move the people out and then clean it up.””
What to Know About the Trump Family’s Deals in the Middle East (Gift Article)

If you want to read a new book coming out but don't want to buy it, a great thing you can do is ask your local library to order it. The more requests they get, the more likely they are to acquire it and then lots of people will get to read it who othewise wouldn't.

On entering a new year, with a little help from Jim Harrison.

I used to tell students that the difference between poetry and you is you look in the mirror and say, “I am getting old,” but Shakespeare looks in the mirror and says, “Devouring Time, blunt thou thy lion’s paws.”

Be smart out there. Just like any social world, people will “follow” you — I’m a poet and a birdwatcher and I’ve already been “followed” by a real estate developer (maybe) and two folks with no real profile. Check everyone who follows you, and block where necessary. Keep our roadsides clean!
