Monumental Labs (www.monumentallabs.co) is looking to robotic stone carving factories. This might bring some of the beauty of ancient stone buildings into an affordable form for today's buildings.

In Spain, IBAVI built social housing from load‑bearing sandstone. Several of the projects I've managed to find are social housing, which suggests to me that the costs to build are not much higher (and possibly lower) than normal construction.
