I don't want to be that guy who's raining on the party (or do I?) but as much as I'd like to live in a world where your jewel of a website enjoys a well deserved massive audience, seeing how hords of robots have been hammering the internet recently I'm a bit curious how page views relate to readers.

From the distance, it is hard to tell why bombing suspicious boats is so much worse than the bombing of suspicious people in Pakistan during the "drone war". In both cases public supervision was severaly restricted and there were well documented so called collateral damage.

I personally find the attitude of "let them enjoy their fantasy we know are wrong" to be contemptuous.

1. the identity of the mentee being casualy revealed in the article
2. the torches and pitforks tone of this thread; That cured my dellusion that bluesky could be more than any other unmoderated forum on the internet.

Just went running with the podcast. You know Sean Carroll's ideas on AI are simplistic when that's the only parts of the AMA you can understand with an oxygen deprived brain ;-p

Unfortunately, it's not only in Israel. Many people in places with no connection with the Middle East have apparently seized this opportunity to be hateful without fearing the consequences.

Re. Thago, he attended a funeral, that's not "supporting Hesbollah". "Supporting" would be to actually take part in its operations. You can disagree with a group political objective and means but still show respect to its assassinated leader (and to all civilians who died by the same bomb).

Re. Yasemin, if she did then it's not very smart but when there is no justice in sight many expect some external powerful avenger to weight in (be it God or Iran or Houthis or wtv), before coming to their senses. She should be asked to clarify instead of condemned in absentia.

Tens of thousands of innocents have been maimed by a brutal colonizer after a century of injustice, but all you have to say is to spread some rumors to tarnish the reputation of the rare individuals who have taken huge risks to do something, even if only symbolic?
