We’re proud to have been part of the CaSTCo (Catchment Systems Thinking Cooperative) project, helping advance collaborative river monitoring across England and Wales. Together, we’ve proven that community data can drive real decisions for river recovery, and this is just the start!

💧Crayfish Guidance!

In England's rivers we have both native and invasive non-native species of crayfish.

👀 They are pretty hard to tell apart. Learn what to do and not to do if you come accidentally come across one in your Riverfly sample.

🪰 Freshwater Friday - Flat-bodied stone-clingers (Heptageniidae)

Larvae in this family of mayflies have a flattened shape, which is perfect for clinging to rocks in fast-flowing streams.

If you spot them, it’s a good sign of a healthy river.

Nature’s little builders 🌿 In August, some of our monitors found as many as 1000 cased caddis in their sample!
Caddis larvae make protective cases from twigs, sand, and stones. Each one is unique!
