Wayfaring stranger with tired feet seeking friendly campfires and fantastic tales. This is also a writing practice account, so it will at times be prone to rushes of words and ideas followed by periods of silence.
I hope if I absorb enough noble words, and write enough poor stories of my own, I will one day be able to write something worth reading.

You can’t get better at writing without reading and writing.

Winter Candle (version 2)
Written by Rivenblade

The winter chill can darken hearts
And bring all spirits low
Knowing this, I light a wick
And watch the small flame grow

O, Flame of Life
Holder of Hope
In you, I must abide

I pray your glow
Shall keep me whole
And spirits satisfy

A Candle in Winter
Written by Rivenblade

The winter chill can darken hearts
And bring all spirits low
Knowing this, I light a wick
And place it by the window

O, Flame of Life
Holder of Hope
In you, I must abide

I pray your glow
Shall keep me whole
My spirit satisfy

We once dwelled in honour and pride ‘ere comfort and age bore us near ruin.

Where is the knight?

Where is the sower?

Where are the hearts that once were aflame?

We have eaten our feasts from elder-day tables, yet given no heed to the rot ‘neath the cloth!

We only get one life on this planet. This year has been a sobering lesson in how quickly that life can end regardless of health or age. Several people I knew or was at least familiar with who lost their lives. Two in their forties. Both with children. I’ve tried to take them as signs and reminders.

Apparently, it’s International Men’s Day. While it would be easy to respond with a cynical smirk to that fact, it would only add to the hurt, and push back the acceptance and equality we all crave as people.

Cheers to the men who show up, love, care, contribute, and want to make things better.

Ridan etched designs of doom upon his mind, coils of vengeful thoughts ready to strike at the image of his treacherous brother. He walked through the camp a man possessed, whether by righteous anger or poisoned vision, his party could not say.

Support Blue Turtle on YouTube. In a sea of bland AI-generated music, Blue Turtle is a human creator who deserves your views and your ears. Been listening to this channel for years. It's one of my go-to's for inspiring deep focus music, whether I'm working or creating.

Unsubscribing from @nytimes.com The Daily on my podcast feed. Between Ross Douthatt being allowed to platform questionable and/or straight up uninformed people, and the milquetoast reporting on the main show (which I was fine with before), I’m done.

Keep actively hurting your reputation, I guess.

The tragedy of life is that wisdom begins to come too late—the toils and distractions of mundane existence all too present, choking the light from one’s mind.

@nytimes.com Consider taking a closer look at Ross Douhat’s “work,” please. The man just allows any and all questionable people on to his show and treats them like reasonable people with zero pushback.

“Women have ruined the workplace. Interesting! Tell our listeners more!”

It sucks.

From atop the old hill
He cries the word
The one known to all with hearts alive

It prickles the skin
Pinches tears from adult eyes
And makes freedom
feel possible anew

“Hope!”

Had a semi-regular reminder today of how good exercise is for the body and mind. I was alert. I was focused. I was present. I felt like I could accomplish great things. I will work to make this a more consistent state because it’s worth it. I want to feel alive, dialed in, and motivated.

Autumn's Hug

Grab a hold of branches
Grab a hold of leaves
Grab a hold of blankets
And rolled down sweater sleeves

Put the kettle on
And grab yourself a mug
Fill it with hot chocolate
And rest in autumn's hug

I don’t think I know much about life. Not enough to be a good model for anyone else at least. I talk and think too much and still do too little, or don’t do enough that is worthy of the gift I’ve been given, though I know I am capable of change any time I wish.

Do not mourn the past. It has already forgotten you. Rejoice and hope in the present.

We don’t have much time. Once we figure out how to use it, we have even less of it and are often not fit enough to use it how we wish. But we push on and try to shine as best as we can, teaching others what we’ve learned so they may have more purposeful years than us.

Striving for noble language while wanting to avoid pretentiousness—It’s a difficult balance to pull off.

I do not understand cruelty. The desire to humiliate and make another person feel less-than while raising yourself above them with dehumanizing words or acts. A person who does this also dehumanizes themselves.
