We're starting to get into weeds of our first in-house project at V6A and I'm realizing I've been grappling with an intense craving for legibility these last few weeks. I wonder how much we've fumbled by giving into this craving too soon. Falling into the trap of rationalism/logic-izing too fast

600+ native plants in the ground in Brooklyn this last month via
@V6A_coLab. I can start to see a shift in what people see as viable, designed urban landscapes. We need to make sure these are also viable climate-wise...what works now isn't going to work 5, even 3 years from now.

I've always thought of the destruction we've caused as a species in so little time as appalling. Which it is. But Lewis Thomas reframes that feeling wonderfully: we have hope and patience for our children to learn, fail & grow, so why not for ourselves? A young & fragile species.
