Africa’s tuskers, also called “super tuskers”, are elephants with at least one tusk weighing 100 pounds (45kg) or more. There are only 86 of them left. They are icons of the continent’s heritage. However, their numbers appear to be dwindling, raising concerns about the survival of the big tusk gene.
