Yes, I figured economics roots. I am in a back and forth with an economist at the moment. But I find the field quite entrenched in old and narrow assumptions. Is there evidence from elsewhere and more recent evidence that accounts for RE (or even other sources like nuclear) adoption in the world?

In the context of studies showing how gas exports displace renewables in importing countries, the idea is even weaker. Not to mention a cynical view of the world to begin with. Imagine the argument in other contexts: if I don't supply tobacco to children, someone else will just fill the gap
