A memorial along the Providence River in Remembrance Park honors the Rhode Island IX — nine Rhode Island Marines who were killed in the Beirut bombing attack on October 23, 1983.

Yesterday, Secretary Amore joined in a memorial service honoring them and their families.

Our first civics lesson of the school year was last week! This year, Secretary Amore will be teaching a lesson on the Declaration of Independence to help commemorate the nation's 250th anniversary. Thank you to Pilgrim High School in Warwick for having us.
