Walked over to the rec center, and someone gifted a ham and turkey breast. Very nice. We have all the meat we need, 3 turkeys, a ham, and a turkey breast, just nothing to go with it. Hopefully, at today's meeting, we'll have more donors.

Resident meeting this evening to see if we should still do Thanksgiving and/or should we cancel. I thought about charging per person for dinner, but that would leave several w/o food and company. Can't ask strangers to help. I was up worried most of the night, and I don't need the stress.

Thank you so much. The dude is mentally ill that took the food. I feel bad for him, too. No excuse because he's an ass, but he's now homeless and mentally ill. It was his parting FU to the neighbors. I'm trying to be understanding and empathetic.

I thought about it, but we need so little. I have my company's Ko-fi link in my profile. I lucked into 3 turkeys today, so now it's down to the sides. I've got some callbacks tomorrow afternoon to see what we can muster up locally. 💜

I wish I could do it. That's so very sweet of you, but I can't accept it. I may put something on our website to see if anyone is interested in helping out, I doubt they will, but I'll still put something up for a couple of days.

I feel sorry for these old folks who have no one to spend Thanksgiving with. I wanted to do something nice and got screwed. I was just told I got the turkeys and have until tomorrow to pick them up. I don't know what to do. I really don't. I can't get stuck.

The downside is that then I'm on the hook for providing the rest. I can't do that. It may be better to just cancel.

🤞 I think I can get all the turkeys donated. I'm waiting for a call back. I've got one for sure. It just got picked up. They did a Thanksgiving dinner food drive in town today that I didn't know about. If anyone doesn't pick up their box, I'm on a waiting list.

I'm glad someone is. I just don't see it happening in this economy. I don't have the time to run all over creation begging for food, I work. I did what I could do. I've made a bunch of calls. I've put it out there to the universe. It's up to the universe now.

When I was delivering meals, every single one asked me about Thanksgiving. They wanted to dress up and dine with friends. The only reason I did it. I'm heartbroken. I can't fix this, and I won't get much help. They counted on it, and I have to tell them what happened. Some already know.

We're rural and red. There's not much here. Plus, there is no way to transport that many people. They'd more than likely stay home and forget about it.

And you know, I could probably pull this dinner off for under 200. I spent over 300, but I also bought items for people who needed their everyday food staples. It just sucks that someone had to ruin a good thing.

I literally have a case number to give the stores, and the police report will be available in a couple of days. Unless I am a 501c3, forget it.

Thank you. If the story hit a major market, we would have no room for donations. It's a small clubhouse with household appliances. So much would end up going to waste. Too bad the snotty Canadian snowbirds won't help.

People aren't donating anything anymore unless you need a kidney or something, or they can write it off on their taxes.

I'm recording a PSA that will air on our station starting tomorrow with our Ko-fi info also a memo on our website. There are not many local listeners, but we'll see what happens. I'm giving it through the weekend. I have a health issue I'm dealing with, so I can only do so much. My hands are tied.

Let me see what happens this week from our local orgs. If they can't replace, then I'm done. I shouldn't even have done this. I just felt horrible knowing these folks would be alone and hungry on Thanksgiving. I also just put up a sign up sheet at the rec center.

I'd replace everything if I could. I'm considering just canceling our community Thanksgiving. We're never going to raise the funds or find a donor to replace what was stolen. Only me and another resident are in our 50s and work. The rest are over 70.

Me too. I spent a lot to do this, and I know I'll never raise what's needed to replace it. I can't afford to replace it all myself, so I hope I'll be able to get some local support.
