Wake up and listen to your fellow Portlanders, many of whom are leaving the city due to tax policy and inept leadership.

Your message is tone deaf.

I call BS on this one Mike.

Orlando has shown below zero interest in Anfernee Simons over the past 3 years.

First choosing the Denver deal over Portland’s offer, then KCP in free agency and finally giving up multiple first round picks for Desmond Bane.

These “studies” have been debunked repeatedly.

SOLV and others.

My fellow Portlanders who I volunteer with agree with me.

The loos have been locked far longer than Mayor Keith has been in office.

Good. I’ll see you in the parks.

Fill the positions, don’t cut them.

Most citizens aren’t physically capable of police work.

We are capable of maintaining trails, painting and doing general maintenance to help our
Parks department.

Next?

Those porta potties are maintained by contractors not city staff.

The loos are mostly locked and rarely cleaned.

Sounds like you just want to be snarky and are not particularly interested in solutions.

Ever get your hands dirty?

One person training three dozen volunteers is cheaper than hiring full time staff to do the work.
May 16, 2025 at 8:40 PM
Redirecting from police and not funding new hires contributed to the explosion in property crime and car thefts that have plagued Portland since 2000.

Parks are in good shape.
May 16, 2025 at 8:38 PM
You guess wrong.

How is telling you what my preferences are in any way “virtue signaling” ?

It’s a fact that public volunteers can work to support parks and provide some degree of budgetary relief.

We are not allowed to walk the streets armed and in uniform to deter criminal activity.
May 16, 2025 at 8:35 PM
Too bad. We need change not the status quo.
May 16, 2025 at 8:32 PM
Nice bumper sticker slogan.

Do you even know what that means?

There is no occupying police presence in Portland.
May 16, 2025 at 8:28 PM
I would gladly sign up for volunteer park maintenance to keep police on the streets.

Public militias are somewhat problematic.
May 16, 2025 at 8:27 PM
Public safety means freedom to move through our streets without fear of being assaulted or robbed by criminals who plague our city.

Please listen to your constituents instead of misinterpreting surveys and making poor decisions based on your personal beliefs.
May 16, 2025 at 8:25 PM
I believe you are misinterpreting the intent of the public. We should not be forced to choose between safety (police) and enjoying our natural environment (parks).

You have a job, which is to provide leadership. Please lead a debate on the issue of public safety then make decisions on budgeting
