Especially when as a creative type myself, I could talk at length about any story I tell and why I’m telling. I’ve gotten a good sixth sense at understanding why other people tell stories too, and learning how to read other people’s motivations from this.

Obviously, it is horrific that my ancestors were beaten for speaking Welsh in school, and yes it’s horrific the public shaming that was used to try and force their assimilation into English.

But you’ve always tried to act like you suffered the worst.

As a Welsh gal on my mom’s I’ve always hated my mother when she pulls out the “Welsh people were given the residential school treatment too.”

And I’m like “mom, we starved indigenous children so badly, Canada wrote the fucking food guide using data gathered from residential schools.
