We are excited to preset RIOT on #clt2025. As a little teaser, we attached an image of the RIOT@CLT25 poster. Come to our booth to check out interesting projects based on RIOT, ask questions, and even try out RIOT in our little coding challenge – no prior knowledge required.

1. the Internet split in devices with memory measured in Gigabytes (PC / phone / raspi, running Linux, Windows, Android etc) and in Kilobytes (PCBs, running RIOT)
2. a driver stack showing sys/packags building on kernel and drivers (hardware independent), on top of hardware dependent parts (peripheral drivers on top of CPU/boards)

RIOT ist ein freies, quelloffenes Betriebssystem für das IoT mit dem Schwerpunkt auf niedrigem Ressourcenbedarf, einfacher Nutzung und einer freundlichen und offenen Community. Es wird gemeinsam von Unternehmen, Hochschulen und Hobbyisten auf der ganzen Welt entwickelt. RIOT unterstützt die meisten stromsparenden IoT-Geräte, Mikrocontroller-Architekturen (32-Bit, 16-Bit, 8-Bit) und externe Geräte. RIOT zielt darauf ab, alle relevanten offenen Standards zu implementieren, um ein Internet der Dinge zu unterstützen, das vernetzt, sicher, langlebig und datenschutzfreundlich ist.
RIOT zieht auf Systeme mit Mikrocontrollern mit typischerweise wenigen dutzend KiB RAM und einigen hundert KiB Flash. Das bringt Vorteile wie geringeren Energieverbrauch, einfacher vorhersagbares Echtzeitverhalten und geringere Hardwarekosten mit sich. Jedoch ist auf leistungsfähigeren Systemen etablierte Software nicht ohne weiteres lauffähig.

Dear RIOTers, I am happy to announce that RIOT 2024.10 “FlexTape” has been released! 🥳 Here are some of the highlights: This release fixes some long-standing packet buffer leaks that occurred when using gnrc_netif_pktq and 6LoWPAN or netdev_new_api (#20983, #20834). A long standing-bug in the CC2538 radio driver has been fixed when processing corrupted frames, that before could render the device unresponsive. This can be triggered due to radio interference, but we also bel...

A new release has been published: RIOT OS 2024.07, nicknamed StrikinglyCrowded, is available as of today. This release of the friendly #os for the #iot features support for more hardware, PSA backed key storage, as well as many improvements in our #coap support.
