I haven’t downloaded the files. Even with subscription, I had a few issues with losing access to a few items when a newer edition was released some other weirdness on their end. I’m resigned to potentially losing some items in the future.

Interesting. I know that unused credits definitely go away and they allow you to make returns/cancel pre-orders only if you have a subscription, but there is nothing saying a pre-ordered purchase wouldn’t be honored. I guess I’ll find out either way on March 25th.

You don’t need a subscription to buy audiobooks on Audible. The subscription just gives monthly credits and allows you to carry unused credits over. I can still access anything I’ve bought in my library and my pre-order will appear when it’s available.
