Could you explain a little bit about which specific things you edited? Were you adjusting the timing of the performance or something?

There's an easier way to do that. On Serum, move any of the parameters you want to automate. Then on the FL Studio menu bar at the top, go to Tools > Last tweaked > Create automation clip.
