The hyperbolic response to farmers’ IHT is bugging me. Here’s some facts from the g’ment rather than the lies pedalled by Clarkson, Farage, et al, for political gain.

Under the Tories, the very richest paid far less IHT than the mere wealthy. Looks like Labour is trying to redress the balance.

For personal reasons, I’ve been doing some googling recently. Under the Tories, the wealthiest paid a far smaller % IHT than beneficiaries where the estate was worth between £1-5m. The drop-off post £5m is significant & I wonder if this is the loophole Labour is trying to close? (Source: HMRC)
