THANK YOU!!
IDK I watched that whole scenario and I think every reaction that occurred was totally reasonable? Like the paralysis (Trump), running away (RFK), the folks that immediately jumped in to help--it's all representative of the human experience.

They were been burned in the past (student says they'll definitely be graduated by May, but turns out they won't be done until December) But also there are ways to get around that issue that don't completely eliminate ABD candidates from the application pool.

Yes--I need to get better at proofreading. I probably even agree with most of the feedback I was provided. I'm just imagining a world where we assume the best in our fellow scientists

It's normal for grad school to be challenging, and for some days to be really hard. It is NOT normal to be miserable every single day, with zero time to do anything you enjoy.
So much grad student suffering happens because our ideas of normalcy are warped. Don't suffer in silence, seek support!

Yep! Ran into this issue last week actually. We went around in circles for about 30 minutes before I spent 20 minutes figuring it out. When I shared the correct code with chatGPT it was like "Oh yes that way also works" but what it was spitting out was NOT the same!

This is fascinating! As someone who has used chatGPT to troubleshoot complex code, it usually gives me code that runs, but does NOT do what I want, and it cannot figure out how to provide that (despite providing explicitly clear prompts). It's usually faster for me to figure it out myself.
