all of that aside, these look like shit and i think we deserve better regardless. one of the most frustrating parts about genAI is that its output is this sauceless garbage, stuff that feels like it was made by the most empty suits alive for their misguided platonic ideal of a “gamer,” and it sucks!

your logic is sound, though i fear that any real artist making shit that looks like this is doing themselves a disservice at this point. the suspicion that the “AI look” inspires is enough to render the art viscerally repugnant to me, human-made or not.

i don’t care if people want to shout from the rooftops about a game if it’s Actually The Best Shit Ever (which disco elysium is). how are we supposed to know if people don’t talk about it? i only find it annoying when people are foaming at the mouth over a work that’s just Fine, or even Pretty Good

the paragraph after this basically says “well i guess you can use LLMs for factual research if you really feel like it” when their own study found that using AI summaries reduced factual accuracy vs normal researching! why do any scientific research at all if even the authors won’t stand behind it!
