It's been a long time since I read them but S.M. Stirling's Nantucket series. I think they'd fall under this category. I remember seeing the title of the first one, Island in the Sea of Time, and thinking ok that's the coolest book title ever!

Oh man...I read this series over and over when I was young and dreamed of finding a door or passageway to a place like Narnia. I'd really like to find that passageway today.

I thought it was a lot of fun overall, a bit heavy at times with techno jargon but otherwise a great read...part apocalyptic, part future sci-fi...very fun combo for me.

I think I've only read one book by him - Seveneves, which is one my all time favorites. I'll look into the Quicksilver series - thanks!

Absolutely! I lived here for 6 years and am back visiting for the first time since I moved. I feel like I'm taking a vacation in my own city which is a blast!
