I've recently heard: "Don't write dialogue like you'd normally speak." Combine those and you don't know what to write at all anymore.
Considering advice is a good thing. But in the end everybody has their own style. Write the book, that you would like to read. And don't get discouraged.

I agree. Solas is a spirit. And spirits can change their form drastically e.g. when corrupted. And at that moment we see him in DAV his devotion for Mythal has overtaken i.e. corrupted him profoundly. So this shows in his DW form. When he heals, he'll become more wolfy again. I'm sure. ❤️🐺

The Veilguard artbook claims in the section about Elgar'nan, that hair loss is an indication of age for ancient elves.
The "hair loss due to stress" was something, John Epler said in an AMA on reddit about Solas.
So I think, the age- explanation would be canon for Elgar'nan.
