Autistic/PDA, writer, aro ace agender (they/them). I love cats, books, chocolate and cacti.
I've lived with OCD since I was 12, I can't even remember what it was like to not have it.
I've been on meds for the last couple years and the difference is amazing.
Is this what non-OCD people experience? Their lives must be so easy! And quiet!

My PDA looks like having 50+ hobbies that I've started, that became too demandy, and now just litter the house cos I'll 'get around to them one day'.

If you wish you could morph into a formless mass of atoms just so you don't have to eat or sleep or wash anymore...
you might be PDA.

Still befuddled at the time I took my kids to a party specifically for autistic kids.
An old woman asked me which of my kids was autistic and I replied 'all of us'.
She just looked at me then walked away.
Like, lady, autism is genetic! Where did you think my kids got it from.

Society is so quick to label Autistic people as rigid and unwilling to change, yet they are the ones refusing to adapt for basic disabled people's needs.

Wish I knew how to sleep without dreaming.
I hate waking up exhausted and with a headache.

I'm going to post about every PDA book.
Starting with My Daughter Is Not Naughty by Jane Sherwin.
It's the very first PDA book I read, back when you could count the books that existed on one hand.
It's a story of parenting a PDA child, told by the mum.

I think it's ironic when people say autistic people are asexual because they shouldn't be having sex.
Like, autistic people can and do and should have sex, if they want to.
Also asexual people can and do have sex, it's about a lack of attraction, not action.
Quit childafying autistic people!

I tend to stim a lot.
I also have Tourettes.
It took a while to figure out which of my actions were stims and which were tics.
There's a lot of overlap, and some stims can become tics, and vice versa.

The autism spectrum is like the colour spectrum.
It's not a range from low to high, or mild to severe.
It's a range of skills, abilities, and difficulties.
Saying someone is 'on the spectrum' is like saying 'colour is on the spectrum', it makes no sense.

It's important to respect people's individual wishes, but when talking about autistic people on the whole It's...

'Autistic' - not 'person with autism'
'PDAer' or 'PDA person' - not 'person with PDA'
'Is autistic' - not 'has autism' or 'suffers from autism'
'Is autistic' - not 'on the spectrum'
