I agree. I’ve seen our Garda do more precarious things than that though I wouldn’t get mixed up in it x.com/righttobikei...

Afak they are allowed to. I remember years ago before the official law on phone use was introduced I was waiting at a shopping complex exit a garda car pulled alongside. Passenger Garda criticised me until I pointed out Garda driver was on phone too🤦♂️
