We've been a 1st/3rd world country for a LONG TIME... sending raw materials to Asian countries (logs, hides, scrap metal, etc) & receiving finished products. And our grain exports keep a lot of their labor forces alive.. & feed their animals, too (hay, grain, etc).. since the '60s. ^..^
