So, how do we get there? By implementing Bus Rapid Transit into the design of major transit corridors like Flatbush Avenue, we can get buses out of traffic and offer consistent, reliable service 24/7.

Along it's route from Downtown to Kings Plaza, the B41 spends more time at red lights than moving. Right now, the entire trips takes 58 minutes. But,

"...if the bus were traveling the corridor totally unimpeded, it would need only 16 minutes to go from end to end."

What we're calling for isn't new or expensive. It's a recommitment from our next Mayor to build the projects Mayor Adams has abandoned, implement *real* BRT (not just red paint!), and to treat our buses and its millions of daily riders with respect and dignity.

Thanks to analysis from People Oriented Cities, we know that upgrading buses on Utica Avenue to BRT-level service would result in 17-minute time savings — cutting the trip from Dekalb Ave to Kings Plaza by nearly 40%!

We know what we need (BRT!), we know where we need it, and after four years of waiting for City Hall to do what's needed to speed up the nation's slowest buses, we know what's missing — the political will to do it.
