I’d really like these people to be ritually humiliated if we make it out of this, but tbh im not sure i could dream up anything more debasing than what they’re already doing.

Colossal idiocy. The lack of spine being demonstrated by so many organizations is frankly eye opening.

does a great job at taking these things i just held as complete abstractions (fission) and making them understandable in detail - along with the decades of background that underpinned it

they’d have to purge all those folks from government service, assuming they know that it makes me very bearish on the notion of a peaceful transition.

frankly i'd be less surprised if it were just folks unaware they had an infostealer on their personal device. i dont think these guys are playing 5d chess to avoid potential future consequences, given the 99% chance that any AI-ification they talk about is happening on xAI infra in TN.

Also vehicle software has tremendous value as IP, its why VW is pouring billions into a JV with Rivian. the whole “its just efficiency” arg abstracts away a lot of what goes into making a vehicle work.

Would be astonished if it were just battery tech - they spent 5 years from 2010-2105 in VWs network targeting, among other things, EV research. Likely far more instances that went undiscovered or unreported.

Maybe i'm painting with too broad a brush, but EV technology (take that for what you will, my guess would be software and architecture) and more recently battery technology has been prominent on the PRC's five year plans, which serve as intelligence requirements for their IC.

kindof hard to gauge subsidies when you can outsource R&D to your state intelligence apparatus

Task the NSA to start siphoning off trade secrets in industries US co's are deficient in and i'm sure they'll ramp up pretty quick.

'unserious' doesn't do it justice. these are idiots doing illegal things in the dumbest way possible because they dont think consequences exist.

These attacks are normally carried out by huge swathes of compromised devices from all over the globe. There's a zero percent chance that what he's saying is true, but regardless the location of any given device / subset of devices is irrelevant.

For the love of god can we shake the need to appear measured and weak? This is our fucking country and we're going to hand it over on decorum?
