Onboarding is one of the think nearly can’t do it efficiently without sync communication. Not saying do it remotely, it is even more difficult.

Listens to a podcast yesterday during my run. Learnt that statistically people have strong preference on sync and async communication in engineering context is around 20-30% each.

Rest 40% think hybrid is actually the best.

It gives me some faith on humanity.

I see my coaching fails if a young engineer didn’t capable to correctly work on a Authn/Authz abstraction after 6 months.

In last few greeting, I just season chicken and fish with salt, sugar, rosemary and good Oliver oil. Many are surprised how delicious it is.

With more asking, I discover people are often eating over cook meat with heavy flavours. The heavy flavour it to cover the over cooked meat.

In backend context, the data representation is the view. We don’t name those json rendering logic to data mapper or transform. It is view.

An engineer worked over 6 years still can't use a message queue properly.

Years of experience is not a good indicator of abilities.

hmmm, electing judge?
This week, we made a moderation decision that left some members of the Bluesky community feeling unsafe and unheard. That’s never our goal, and we apologize for letting some of you down. I want to explain what happened, why we made the decision we did, and where we’re going from here.

Modular only come with right abstraction.

Right abstraction is about don’t talk with me on memory performance when I am talking business logic modelling.
Microservices vs monoliths doesn't matter. Write modular code, abstract away services into reusable components, and combine them into one or more artifacts based on your needs.

As some people have already noticed, one can access the web app at its proper URL now: https://bsky.app

The staging URL will continue to work for a while, so no urgent need to move over.

Went to sailing last weekend, many talk on the skipper responsible and skill remind my work as engineering mangers. Not a good sign for relax.
