People complain about folks on food stamps buying processed food, but ignore that stores decide what’s on the shelves, not the shoppers. Most affordable items in grocery stores are already processed that’s what corporations stock for profit and shelf life.

I don’t know much about Nick Mangold beyond his football career, but as someone who’s battled kidney disease for the past four years, my heart truly goes out to him and his family.

Boomers keep saying the government shutdown only affects a small group, so it’s not a big deal. But couldn’t you say the same about Social Security? Most people pay into it for years without directly benefitting until later, yet we all understand its importance.

It’s ironic that America glorifies mobsters and serial killers in movies, turning white criminality into entertainment yet when it’s Black or brown immigrants they’re labeled dangerous and unwanted. That double standard is deeply racialized and deserves to be called out.

It’s always amusing how some white folks miss the point of “per capita” we’ve known since school that dividing by a smaller number makes the percentage bigger, while dividing by a larger number makes it smaller. That’s why the comparison can make figures look inflated for smaller populations.
