Transplanted Californian enjoying life once again in Italy's central valley. Interests of world's oldest 18yo have always been vintage cars, 1960s popular music, vintage keyboards, Rickenbacker 12 string and Fender offset guitars. Doggie lover.
Lookalike cars with current safety tech--carbon fiber, fire suppression, fuel bladders, rollover protection, etc.

Each team to run one car, one backup. Vintage motors, upgraded brakes. Vintage-sized tires.

Points to count toward Drivers' Championship.

My suggestion to "improve" the Monaco F1 race--which has been my favorite since I first started following F1 in '64--is this:

Current drivers, vintage F1 cars. True open-wheel competition in historic cars, which are perfectly-sized for the course.

FIRES: My heart goes out to those impacted by the recent and current California fires! We moved to Italy four years ago. I've yet to hear a fire engine siren, because, even going back 600 or more years, housing here has been of brick and stucco construction. Nothing to burn.

Music has always been a HUGE part of my life, since roughly 1957. Eventually, I'll cover my musical pursuits, which is 20% playing and 80% "music tech".

I'll be adding and fine-tuning constantly, so keep checking in. If you've already peeked at it, know that it's already been re-designed!

My creative life began at age 5, with model cars, which led to real cars at age 19. I pursued fine art painting through my 19th year, and then switched to Industrial Design, which led to toy design, and then to vehicle design and manufacturing. Rickenbackers and guitar design aren't up just yet.

My personal / career history website is up, but it's right now only 13 pages of words and pics. It documents my creative and personal life from 1953 through presrnt day. It's only the beginning; it'll grow steadily. Many will find it dry and boring, and that's OK, too!

I've finally gotten the very beginnings of my personal website up and functioning. It's only 13 pages so far, but will probably be a couple hundred once done. Words and photos about our move, my creative life since 1959, and my cars and early art. It's very wordy, so many will find it boring.

That's it for now; my next post in a few days will have the link to my website page so I can expound at length.

People still read, don't they? 😉

We moved on impulse after switching our relocation destination from Cascais, Portugal, to Modena, with no regrets. I cannot believe that Modena and my former home town, Vallejo, CA, have the same population of roughly 180K, as Modena is so lively and dense, with a great arts scene and much variety.

For those of my friends to whom Modena is vaguely familiar, it's the heart of boutique Italian motor car building. The Maserati MC-20 plant is just across the park, and the Ferrari birthplace and museum is right down the street and across the railroad tracks. Lamborghini and Pagani are nearby, too.

Our new place is one of a very few loft conversions in Modena. We were told that it was the very first, being 25 years old. I received a circular in the mail yesterday for a newly-completed redevelopment of a huge 18th century building into over 50 lofts, so I guess it's finally catching on here.

No more FB, maybe an occasional IG. I realize that I've dropped off many radars, but my relocation to Italy and slight price increases don't seem to have affected my business much if at all.

I did lower my blood pressure by our move. It's a much slower pace here and more suitable to good living.

(2) It's really limiting. Yes, it's self-centered, I know. Anywhoo, I will instead be posting comments and links to a special page on one of my websites, which will give my wordy self some free reign. I've been as active as ever in my luthiery output, besides the moving ordeal and home renovation.

I've re-thunked my Bluesky approach. I have little interest in reposting the likes and observations of other Bluesky, er, participants. My intention was to bring my friends up to date after my four year (as of today) absence from the USA, talk about expat life, and show some projects.

Things I'm tired of...

Richard Mille watches--ugly, over-priced, trite. Bozo bait.

Nearly any Lamborghini built after the Countach.

Exceptions: Espada, Islero, Jarama, Uracco, Silhouette, Jalpa

Older men who wear expensive leather marque jackets/hats. I see them at the Ferrari museum!
