Senator Durbin,
As a federal employee who has been locked out of his job for the past 40 days, has just witnessed an outpour of electoral support for candidates who are fighting this administration, and has lauded the many Chicagoans putting their bodies on the line to protect immigrants from this fascist government, I find it abominable that you would capitulate and vote to consider a minibus bill that offers absolutely nothing substantive to American citizens and will further enable this administration to terrorize its citizens despite the significant leverage that the Democrats currently have and the deep unpopularity of the President.
Not only is this a moral failure that will tarnish your legacy beyond well beyond your days, it is an abject failure in your position as minority whip.
There is still time for you to vote against this resolution, and while I hope you will come to your senses and do the right thing, you have shown a lack of the character, integrity, and humility to do so. You should be deeply ashamed of your support of this bill, and are rightfully condemned for it.
I understand that this is your last term in office. After this depressing spectacle, your retirement is insufficient. You should immediately relinquish your role as minority whip and resign to allow Governor Pritzker to nominate a replacement who will actually fight for Americans. I ask that you extend to the millions of Democratic voters the same courtesy in capitulating to their demands as you so often do to you Republican colleagues. Resign. Today.

I saw Chubby Checker probably a decade ago at an Asian restaurant in Chester County. It was cold and he was all bundled up in a big coat & knit hat. It was only after he took off his hat that I realized Chubby was as bald as a cue ball.
