The problem @mcuban.bsky.social is that the party leadership exerts FAR too much control over candidate selection and funding, leading to much of the mess we're in: crappy choices, career politicians, money-driven behaviors, and more.

Not so bright, eh? The point is to IMPROVE safety with advanced sensing. For example, almost all vehicles have sophisticated accelerometers that interact with the airbags to save your uninformed ass in an accident.

We have very limited knowledge as to the impact of the supercaldera or a massive asteroid, but they’d be planet transforming and mass extinction events of their own. And over longer time scales we don’t actually know how humans and other species would adapt to a warming and changing planet.

I know you are an expert in this domain and I fully respect that - but the "emissions" will include an unimaginable amount of particulate matter that can have, well, a "chilling effect". Ultimately we cannot predict the black swan events that have shaped our planet over its billions of years.
