Did you know that the reason the government shut down last night is because Democrats refused to negotiate? They also closed Congress a month early over the summer so the GOP couldn't work on the funding plan (and release the Epstein files).

I reject the notion of "red" and "blue" states. A state where one party holds all state-level offices still has a lot of voters from the other party. In Texas, every state office held by GOP officials was won with about 55% of the voters. The other 45% deserve to be represented as well.

I'm not sure how to defeat the fascist propaganda machine or how to get people out of the Trump cult. But I'll be joining other American patriots tomorrow in protest against fascism. Perhaps if enough of us show up we can turn the tide back toward democracy

47 has cancelled protected status for hundreds of thousands of people (of color) and will deport them to places that are unsafe. He's granting protected status to whites from South Africa because of conspiracy theories from white supremacists groups. Can't act much more racist than that.

If Qatar offered to give Biden a "free" jet to use as Air Force One, and he said he would use it, but then it would go to his Presidential Library when he left office, the MAGA crowd would scream "corruption"! But the GOP legislators say "I don't know what the law is" when it comes to 47

Imagine a future where we have a Democrat in the White House. Suppose that person decides to reinstate all of the programs that 47 has cut: Consumer Protection, USAID, etc. Doesn't get congressional approval or even ask. Much like how 47 created DOGE. The president either has the power or doesn't

Canada's conservative Prime Minister candidate not only lost, but lost his seat in Parliment because of his embrace of Trumpism. Same story in Australia; the "Trumpy" candidate lost his bid for PM and his seat in Parliment. Democracy is flourishing, just not yet in America. Keep protesting!

Hegseth leaks classified info, McMahon thinks AI is a steak sauce, the wars in Ukraine and Gaza did not end on Jan. 21 as promised, the Dow has lost 11% of its value in the first 94 days of this Republican administration, and eggs still cost $5 a dozen. Incompetence is the norm under 47's rule

It's official. 47 has defied an order from the Supreme Court to bring back a man who was illegally deported to El Salvador. Americans are no longer guaranteed due process as the Constitution says. We are now living in an authoritarian state.

Find the nearest protest against 47 and his dismantling of our democracy and make your voice be heard. 5 million of us barely made the news last time. Let's see if we can double that number on April 19!

I'll be attending the Toledo Persists protest on April 5. Hope I see many of my friends there!

If Biden had done any of the stuff Trump is doing, MAGA would lose their minds and scream that he's trying to be a dictator. Hypocrisy at its best

Threats to Medicaid would lead to more and bigger healthcare deserts in rural areas, forcing many Trump voters to drive even further to get basic services. That's if they can afford it once their benefits are reduced or cut altogether. No wonder so many are having buyer's remorse

How efficient is it to keep firing people, then realizing you need them so you have to hire them back, then realizing you can't contact them because you canceled their email account? DOGE is a perfect example of what they claim is wrong with the government.

Some pictures from yesterday's protest in Cincinnati organized by the 50501 movement. Check out where and when the next protest will be and attend if you're inclined.

Not usually one to just share links, but when your hometown paper calls out your support of Nazi ideology, along with the Pope and a host of allied nations, it takes on a different tone.
If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it just might be a duck.

Ohio's J.D. Vance rebuked by the Pope, denounced by NATO allies, ridiculed for bizarre rant • Ohio Capital Journal
J.D. Vance has really done Ohio proud these last few weeks, hasn’t he? Vance has managed to be firmly rebuked by Pope Francis, denounced by outraged NATO allies, and widely ridiculed for his bizarre ‘...

One month in and we're seeing buyer's remorse ramping up. Grocery and gas prices going up, cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, and SS are being rolled out, and veterans' programs cut. The exact opposite of what Trump promised when campaigning, and exactly what we've been telling his supporters would happen.
February 20, 2025 at 3:15 PM
I don't remember anyone saying they were voting for Trump because they wanted banks and other financial institutions to rip them off again like they did during the George W. Bush administration.
February 10, 2025 at 3:48 PM
I won't argue whether Trump is a racist or not, but sending people of color to Gitmo without due process, then offering asylum to the wealthiest people in South Africa (read: white people) is clearly a dog whistle to the white supremacists who support him.
February 10, 2025 at 3:48 PM
The first Gallup poll of Trump's second term shows that, while 47% approve of what he did in the first week, 48% disapprove! Numerous executive orders have been rescinded because of public outcry, and because they were so poorly articulated that the confusion it created made them unmanageable.

I just feel like pissing off the MAGA crowd so here goes: Gulf of Mexico and Denali

Remember when Dr. King said he dreamed of a time when his children wouldn't be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character?

I dream of a time when politicians are judged by the content of their character, not by their loyalty to a dictator wannabe

I have strong opinions about politics and religion, and I enjoy conversing about both so long as we can do so civilly. If you say or post something stupid I will probably point it out. We don't have to agree, but I refuse to interact with anyone who has to resort to junior high-level insults.
