A bit of a geek. Music, games, communications, plain language, accessibility and Hallowe'en (with an apostrophe). He/him.

When using Microsoft Word or Google Docs, don't just make text bigger and bolder to make it a heading. That will work for sighted users, but screen reader users will miss that and just hear it as normal paragraph text. Use actual heading styles, like level 1 through 6.

Accessibility awareness and training are good first steps, but they aren't the end. Teams need to create accessibility policies and strategies based on that training and newfound knowledge. Managers must empower people to enforce policies to make sure everyone does their part.

How a screen reader reads a special or unique character will depend on the character as well as the screen reader. There's been a lot of improvement over the last decade, but there are some characters aren't correctly read by certain screen readers.

Accessibility tip: Don't add a row at the top of your table to give your table a name/title. The top row of a table should always be used for column headers only. Keep the title above and outside the table, or use options in the "table properties" (if available) to give it a title. #a11y

Happy International Day of Persons with Disabilities! I'm a bit of an accessibility geek, so I may try posting some tips on here on a regular basis for those who are interested. #a11y

Tables: Don't leave cells blank. Make sure there's something there, such as N/A, 0 (for quantities).

Score! Found this gem in Fiji this fall. We even had a family tasting/brushing session to compare tasting notes.

Very foamy. Divine eucalyptus flavor. 9/10.
