The ads were still there, but I didn't have to pay to read the other content. Yes, I'm old, and I have no idea who you are or what you write, so I don't know why I would want to pay to see your work. Also, I read a lot online, if there's a paywall I just scroll on because I can't afford it. 2/2

Think of it this way: before the internet I could either have or not have a subscription to a newspaper or magazine containing ads. If I didn't have a subscription I could still go to the library, diner, or coffee shop and read the publication. 1/2
