Her and other people of faith being kind and generous is about the most one can reasonably “do,” which is what makes it so hard. Simply being a vessel of God’s loving presence, trusting that the Spirit can work. It’s so hard because it’s so counterintuitive.

Those questions have to be the biggest challenge to the Christian faith and all one can honestly say is “I’m sorry” and “I don’t know.” And pray for them on your own.
