.30-06 isn't "tiny" at all. It's a high powered rifle round. Rifle rounds are generally chunky and long, unlike pistol/SMG ammo.
The cartridge on .30-06 Springfield ammo is about 3 inches long and most of it is nearly half an inch wide. Plenty of space to write a short message.

As you build up a tolerance, move up the body and start using larger calibres.
