It'd also be interesting to see a grounded usage comparison with blockchain. Anecdotally that also seemed like a contributor to the increase in power consumption. Has its power usage waned? I have no idea.

No idea what studies have been done specifically on billionaires, but personally I’d not expect much difference in the balance of extrinsic vs intrinsic motivation.

If I could fully address those things in 500 pages, let alone 500 characters, I would have a Nobel prize.

Jokes aside though there’s lots of work on intrinsic vs extrinsic motivation and it shows a mixed picture, ie. The idea of a pure economical man is widely discredited even amongst normal folks

Their core motivation is therefore something else. Winning. Influence. Status. Daddy. There are plenty.

Key point is that those things are relative. They measure success against other billionaires, not an absolute dollar value.

They’ll complain, but taxing them doesn’t change their incentive IMO
